Exciting UAE Space Missions on the Horizon as Sultan AlNeyadi Returns to Earth
Despite its relatively recent entry into the space sector, the UAE has already achieved significant milestones. For more than two years, the UAE's Hope probe has been illuminating the Martian orbit with its national colors. A UAE-made rover, although its lunar landing was unsuccessful, had previously orbited the Moon.
Two Emirati astronauts have resided aboard the International Space Station (ISS), and Sultan AlNeyadi recently returned to Earth after a successful six-month mission. Additionally, a UAE citizen played a vital role in an eight-month analog mission to investigate the effects of isolation on human psychology and physiology.
The future looks promising, as the UAE's investments in the space sector have already surpassed Dh22 billion. According to the state news agency Wam, the UAE's space economy spans ten sectors, all of which offer significant investment potential. These sectors encompass space mining within the UAE, the development of space stations, the growth of UAE space companies, sustainability and recycling initiatives in space, the establishment of space settlements within the UAE, the promotion of space tourism in the UAE, advancements in manufacturing in space, and the expansion of UAE space academies.
The report underscores the UAE's space economy's strong growth prospects, with 57 companies and space entities currently active. Support from both the public and private sectors for the UAE's space program has exceeded an impressive $5.4 billion.
