UAE Weather Update: Red Alert Issued Due to Foggy Conditions; Temperatures Set to Rise
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a red alert to motorists in the UAE, warning of poor visibility due to heavy fog formation on Friday morning, May 31. This alert, in effect until 8:30 AM, highlights the potential hazards posed by deteriorating horizontal visibility, which may drop significantly in some areas.
Safety Advisory for Motorists
In response to the foggy conditions, Dubai Police have taken to social media to caution drivers about the reduced visibility on both internal and external roads across the emirate. Motorists are urged to exercise caution, reduce speed, and adhere to safety traffic guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel.
Weather Forecast: Rising Temperatures Ahead
Despite the foggy start, the UAE can look forward to generally fair weather throughout the day. However, temperatures are expected to rise, with the NCM forecasting highs of up to 44ºC in Abu Dhabi and 42ºC in Dubai. Residents should prepare for a hot day ahead.
Humidity and Fog Chances
As the day progresses into Friday night and Saturday morning, humidity levels are set to increase, bringing a probability of fog or mist formation over some coastal areas. This could further affect visibility and travel conditions during the late and early hours.
Wind and Sea Conditions
The weather department has also indicated that light to moderate winds will be blowing across the country. These winds will cause slight sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea, making it a relatively calm day for maritime activities.
