UAE to Welcome Flying Cars by 2025: Vertiports to Connect Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Residents in the UAE are on the brink of realizing their dreams of traveling in flying cars, with plans underway to introduce them as soon as 2025. Archer, a US-based electric flying car manufacturer, is teaming up with Falcon Aviation, a UAE-based aviation services operator, to establish vertiports—vertical airports—in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The initiative will see the construction of vertiports at key locations such as Falcon Heliport at Atlantis the Palm in Dubai and the Marina Mall heliport in Abu Dhabi’s Corniche. These vertiports aim to drastically reduce commuting times, with estimated flight durations of 10-30 minutes compared to 60–90-minute car journeys. The flights will utilize Archer’s Midnight aircraft, a piloted, four-passenger vehicle designed for rapid back-to-back flights with minimal charging time between trips.
Safety, minimal noise, and competitive pricing compared to ground transportation are highlighted as key benefits of the electric air taxi service. Moreover, the flights will operate exclusively over water, providing passengers with picturesque views of the city and the Arabian Sea.
Archer's founder and CEO, Adam Goldstein, expressed enthusiasm about introducing the Midnight aircraft to the region, setting the stage for the UAE to lead in urban air mobility. Captain Ramandeep Oberoi, CEO of Falcon Aviation, emphasized their extensive experience in helicopter passenger transport in the UAE over nearly two decades.
Nikhil Goel, Chief Commercial Officer at Archer, noted the rapid progress made in the UAE since the announcement of the international launch of Midnight flights in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The collaboration reflects the growing interest in urban air mobility solutions in the region.
In a similar stride, US-based Joby Aviation, developing all-electric aircraft for commercial passenger service, inked an agreement with Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to launch air taxi services by early 2026, with initial operations targeted for 2025. Joby has also partnered with Skyports to design, build, and operate vertiport sites across Dubai, including Dubai International Airport, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Downtown.
