In a groundbreaking move towards futuristic mobility, Dubai-based aviation company Aviterra has joined forces with Dutch innovator PAL-V to introduce flying cars across the Middle East and Africa (MENA) region.

Aviterra has inked a significant deal to acquire 100 Liberty flying cars from PAL-V, marking a pivotal step towards realizing door-to-door aerial transportation in the region. This strategic partnership also involves an investment from Aviterra into PAL-V, demonstrating a commitment to revolutionizing regional travel dynamics.

Mouhanad Wadaa, Managing Director of Aviterra, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the PAL-V Liberty as a versatile solution perfectly aligned with the diverse travel needs of their customers. The Liberty, hailed as the world’s first practical flying car integrating gyroplane technology with automotive functionality, boasts an impressive flight range of 500 km and a top airspeed of 180 km per hour.

The investment arm of Aviterra, Loggia Investment, has strategically positioned itself by investing in PAL-V, although specific financial details were not disclosed. PAL-V, under the leadership of CEO Robert Dingemanse, is also expanding its global presence by establishing regional offices dedicated to sales, maintenance, flight training, and assembly operations. These offices are poised to become integral hubs for PAL-V’s growing flying car business, supporting its vision for widespread adoption of aerial mobility solutions.

This announcement comes amidst a flurry of developments in the realm of flying cars within the MENA region. Earlier this month, a collaboration between US-based Archer Aviation and UAE’s Falcon Aviation paved the way for air taxi vertiports at key locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This initiative aims to significantly reduce commute times between the emirates, promising a seamless and efficient transportation experience.

Adding to the momentum, Joby Aviation, a prominent VTOL aircraft manufacturer listed on the New York Stock Exchange, unveiled plans for air taxi services in Dubai by early 2025. Through an exclusive agreement with Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA), Joby Aviation is set to lead the air taxi market in the emirate for the next six years, setting the stage for a transformative era in urban air mobility.

The convergence of Aviterra’s partnership with PAL-V and other pioneering ventures in the region underscores a paradigm shift towards innovative transportation solutions. With flying cars poised to redefine the concept of urban mobility, the MENA region stands at the forefront of a transportation revolution, poised to shape the future of travel.
