In an exciting development for the UAE’s space ambitions, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has unveiled its first Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite, Etihad-SAT, marking a major milestone in the country's satellite technology journey. Set for launch in early March 2025, this innovative satellite is a testament to the UAE’s growing expertise in space exploration and technology.

Developed in collaboration with South Korea’s Satrec Initiative, Etihad-SAT will be launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. This launch represents a significant step in MBRSC’s Satellite Development Programme, as it will be the first satellite in the fleet equipped with SAR technology, taking the UAE’s Earth observation capabilities to new heights.
