LG Electronics has introduced its groundbreaking smart home Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent at CES 2024, marking a significant step towards the realization of its vision for a "Zero Labor Home." This innovative AI agent integrates robotic, AI, and multi-modal technologies, exhibiting the ability to move, learn, comprehend, and engage in complex conversations.

Designed with an advanced 'two-legged' wheel structure, LG's smart home AI agent demonstrates autonomous navigation within the home. Equipped with articulated leg joints, the device can verbally interact with users and convey emotions through expressive movements. The incorporation of multi-modal AI technology, combining voice and image recognition with natural language processing, empowers the AI agent to grasp context, intentions, and actively communicate with users.

Functioning as a mobile smart home hub, this AI agent seamlessly connects and manages smart home appliances and IoT devices. Thanks to LG's collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., the AI agent is powered by the Qualcomm Robotics RB5 Platform, featuring on-device AI capabilities such as face and user recognition. Utilizing its built-in camera, speaker, and various sensors, the AI agent collects real-time environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and indoor air quality. LG's advanced AI technologies analyze this data, continuously learning and combining it with external information. The AI agent can even serve as a pet monitor and security guard, allowing users to remotely observe and care for their pets while receiving alerts for unusual activities.

Moreover, the LG smart home AI agent offers exceptional versatility. It autonomously patrols the home, sending notifications to the user's smartphone if it detects open windows or lights left on. Collaborating with a smart outlet, it aids in energy conservation by turning off unused devices throughout the house.

Upon the user's return home, the AI agent greets them at the front door, gauges their emotions through voice and facial analysis, and selects music or other content to match their mood. It assists users in daily tasks by providing transportation details, weather updates, personal schedules, or reminders to take medications.

With its transformative features, LG's smart home AI agent aims to relieve users from household chores, positioning LG as a leading player in the smart home market. Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, emphasized, "Our groundbreaking smart home AI agent combines cutting-edge autonomous mobility and AI technologies with advanced communication capabilities and services to help free customers from household chores. A smart life solution company, LG will continue to help customers experience a smarter, more enjoyable life at home."
