New Year’s Eve in Dubai is always a showstopper, and this year promises to be no exception. As the city gears up for its iconic fireworks and drone shows, yacht rentals have become a hot ticket for those looking to ring in 2025 with a unique and unforgettable experience. With prices reaching as high as Dh360,000 for a luxury yacht, the demand for these floating celebrations has skyrocketed.

Why Are Yacht Rentals So Expensive on NYE?

On any other day, a luxurious yacht like the ‘Lamborghini’ might cost around Dh15,000 per hour. However, when December 31 rolls around, the price can triple, with an eight-hour cruise costing up to Dh360,000. The heightened demand to watch the Burj Khalifa fireworks and dazzling drone shows from the water means that yacht rental companies are charging premium rates.

For comparison, during regular times, a six-hour yacht rental might run you between Dh12,000 and Dh15,000. But on New Year’s Eve, that same yacht could cost anywhere from Dh65,000 to Dh75,000. The price may seem steep, but for many, the experience of watching the fireworks from the water is worth every dirham.

High Demand, High Prices, No Problem

Despite the soaring prices, yacht rentals for New Year’s Eve are in high demand. According to Shani Tareq, operations manager at Elite Rentals, his company has already secured ten bookings and expects that number to rise as the big day draws nearer. “Even though prices are higher, people still want the experience,” Tareq says, emphasizing the exclusivity and luxury that come with celebrating on the water.

Captain Aakash Ghimire, who works with Liberty Yachts, confirms that prices for New Year’s Eve can increase fivefold. Yet, he notes that customers are rarely surprised by the hike. “Everyone knows it’s going to be expensive,” he says. And when you compare it to other celebrations, like booking a table at a top restaurant for the Burj Khalifa fireworks, the yacht experience starts to seem like a great deal. At some restaurants, the minimum spend can be as high as Dh5,000 per person for a prime spot. For a group of ten, you’re already looking at Dh50,000 just for a meal. Why not get a front-row view of the fireworks from the sea?

An Unforgettable Experience on the Water

For those who have already secured their yachts, the excitement is palpable. UAE resident Jamila M. and her group of 70 friends and family are set to sail into the new year aboard a luxury yacht. Jamila began looking for a yacht two months ago and was shocked by the price spike for NYE bookings. “What surprised me the most is that a yacht costing Dh6,000 for six hours on a normal day costs Dh75,000 for New Year’s,” she says. However, Jamila found a way to make it work: guests will contribute dishes to share, keeping costs down while still enjoying the experience.

For many, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime event. Sohad Haikal and Raphael Teofilo, who flew in from Brazil for the occasion, are eager to see the stunning fireworks display. “We are hoping that this show will be wonderful and a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Raphael shares.

A Busy Night on the Water

With so many yachts cruising Dubai’s waterways, the waters are bound to get crowded. Aakash, who has been a captain for over 15 years, expects traffic to be heavy, especially as boats take a similar route. The journey typically begins at the Dubai Marina, passing by JBR, Bluewater Island, and Atlantis, before heading to the iconic Burj Al Arab. To keep things safe and efficient, Dubai Police will station 33 rescue boats in the waters to ensure the security of partygoers.

A Safe and Magical Celebration

While the excitement of sailing into the new year is palpable, safety is always a top priority. With the added traffic on the water, captains are well-trained to handle the conditions and ensure the safety of passengers. The Dubai Police are also on hand to provide support, making sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience as they celebrate the arrival of 2025.
