Dubai Welcomes 22 Chief AI Officers in Government Entities
Dubai is taking a significant step towards AI integration with 22 Chief Artificial Intelligence Officers assuming their duties across various government entities today. This announcement was made by Omar Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, during the AI retreat at the Museum of the Future.
Al Olama highlighted the rigorous selection process for these officers, stating, “Dubai has already chosen 22 Chief AI officers, and they will be assuming their duties today. Each individual underwent a comprehensive exercise to understand their knowledge, capabilities in deploying this technology, and their blind spots. This ensures that every adviser in every government department is aware, capable, and able to make the vision a reality.”
This initiative aligns with the broader vision announced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, to develop a pioneering model for AI-enabled government operations. The goal is to establish Dubai as a global leader in government innovation.
Al Olama emphasized that this move would enhance Dubai's progress and expertise in the AI sector, consolidating its position as a leader in creating innovative solutions built on advanced technology.
Dedicated Campus for AI Companies
In addition to appointing Chief AI Officers, Dubai is launching another key initiative: a dedicated campus for artificial intelligence companies. Located within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), this AI campus is poised to become the world's largest AI-focused hub.
“The second important initiative within the blueprint is a campus dedicated to artificial intelligence companies. Within DIFC today, there's an AI campus dedicated to AI companies. This is just the first phase, and it will expand over time to become the world's largest AI-focused practice. This signifies that this region is not just a regional player but a global player,” Al Olama said.
These initiatives mark a significant milestone in Dubai's journey to becoming a global hub for artificial intelligence, showcasing its commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement.
