Dubai residents and visitors,

get ready for some changes to the Salik toll system. The toll gate operator has recently updated its terms and conditions, introducing new rules and regulations aimed at streamlining the process and ensuring compliance.
Key Changes to the Salik System

Fine Cap: The most significant update is the introduction of a Dh10,000 annual fine cap per vehicle. This means that no matter how many Salik violations you incur in a year, the total fine amount will not exceed Dh10,000.
Dispute Window: Motorists now have 13 months to contest a toll violation from the date it appears on their traffic file.
No Refunds or Transfers: Unfortunately, Salik account balances can no longer be refunded or transferred.
Salik Comes to Dubai Mall: Expanding its reach, Salik has installed toll gates at the Dubai Mall as part of a five-year agreement. Parking rates vary from Dh20 per hour to a hefty Dh1,000 for 24-hour parking.

Salik Customer Responsibilities

With the new updates, Salik customers also have some added responsibilities:

Defective Tags: If your Salik tag is damaged, you must report it within 90 days for a free replacement.
Lost or Stolen Vehicles: In case of a lost or stolen vehicle, inform Salik immediately to deactivate the associated tag. Until then, toll deductions and fines will continue.
Inactive Accounts: A Salik account becomes inactive after five years of no transactions. Any remaining balance will be forfeited.

These changes are part of Salik’s ongoing efforts to improve its services and ensure a fair system for all users. It’s essential to stay updated with the latest information to avoid any penalties or inconveniences.
