In a remarkable feat, the Dubai Municipality accomplished the planting of over 185,000 trees within the city in the past year, averaging an impressive 500 trees every day. This initiative resulted in a substantial increase in green spaces, expanding by 234 hectares compared to the 170 hectares achieved in 2022.

These newly planted trees found their homes across 210 locations, including nature reserves, roads, and parks. The diverse selection of local tree varieties included Ghaf, Sidr, Sumar, Neem, Olive, Samorova palm, Indian jasmine, and palm trees. Noteworthy additions to the city's landscape also featured trees celebrated for their lush green foliage, such as Washingtonia, Bismarckia, Pseudobombax, Poinciana, Bougainvillea, Acacia farnesiana, and Darsina.

Dawoud Al Hajri, the director-general of the Dubai Municipality, emphasized the significance of "Green Dubai" as a pivotal element in the municipality's strategic commitment to sustainability. He highlighted the initiative's focus on safeguarding natural resources, optimizing their use, and substantially reducing carbon emissions in the Emirate, with the ultimate goal of positively impacting the environment.

Al Hajri stated, "The initiative significantly contributes to creating and enhancing green spaces for leisure, relaxation, and connecting with nature. Furthermore, it has also improved the cultural and aesthetic appeal of Dubai, ensuring environmental preservation for future generations." The concerted efforts of the Dubai Municipality reflect a dedication to fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly cityscape, with a vision that extends well into the future.
