In a significant update, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the reopening date for four Metro stations that were closed following heavy rains in mid-April. These stations, namely OnPassive, Equity, Mashreq, and Energy, are set to resume normal operations by May 28, pending the completion of maintenance and safety tests to ensure optimal functionality and safety standards.

The closure of these stations was a response to the adverse weather conditions that affected Dubai, particularly the record-breaking rainfall brought by the storm named 'Hadeer' on April 16. This unprecedented rainfall led to disruptions in transportation across the city, impacting the Dubai Metro and causing closures and operational challenges.

RTA's efforts, in coordination with Keolis and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, focus on swiftly restoring Dubai Metro services to their usual standards. The authority is committed to ensuring passenger safety, the security of assets, and delivering seamless transport services aligned with global best practices.

During this period of station closures, the RTA has implemented alternative transportation measures, including the deployment of 150 buses to serve commuters traveling between Business Bay, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Internet City, Al Khail Metro stations, and others. Additionally, crowd management procedures have been enforced during peak hours to streamline passenger flow and enhance commuting experiences.

The impact of the storm extended beyond immediate disruptions, with ongoing challenges in traffic congestion, alternative transport availability, and crowded stations during peak travel times.
