Dubai Metro's Red Line services between Al Khail Station and UAE Exchange Station resumed on Wednesday morning following a two-hour disruption, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced. The interruption, which began at 6:19am, affected many morning commuters, but the RTA assured the public that "service is back to normal."

The RTA did not specify the cause of the delay during peak rush hour but swiftly deployed alternative bus services to facilitate transportation between the affected stations. Despite this, several commuters expressed their frustrations on the X platform (formerly Twitter), citing long queues and inadequate bus services. One commuter shared, "Had to find out just when I arrived at DMCC station, no staff or signs to get information of buses, which were nowhere to be found around the station, ended up paying a taxi to reach my destination."

Another user commented on the lack of buses: "There should be better arrangements for buses. There’s been no bus for the last 45 minutes at Dubai Internet City." Similarly, another commuter wrote, "Stuck in ADCB Metro station. Long queue."

Posts continued to highlight the chaos, with one stating, "There no buses, I'm waiting here since 7am even the staff doesn't know if the bus will come or not."

This incident follows the recent reopening of three out of four rain-affected metro stations on May 19, after a month-long closure due to record rains and flooding. The reopening of Onpassive, Equiti, and Mashreq metro stations provided much-needed relief to daily commuters who had faced extended travel times and increased expenses due to alternative transport modes.

However, the RTA has announced that the fourth station, Energy Metro Station, will reopen on May 28, following necessary maintenance and testing.

The RTA's swift response in resuming services and providing alternative transportation highlights their commitment to ensuring minimal disruption for Dubai's commuters. Nonetheless, the feedback from passengers underscores the need for improved communication and more efficient contingency plans in the future.
