Following record-breaking downpours, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has implemented permanent flood-proof measures across the Dubai Metro system, ensuring that such incidents will not recur. Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, emphasized that the flooding was an exceptional event. "Designing for a 20-30 year lifespan comes with its challenges, especially in terms of costs," he explained. "However, we are now prepared, and the future-proof measures we have taken will ensure flooding does not recur."

This swift financial support has helped complete more than 90% of the necessary work, ensuring that permanent solutions are in place to prevent flooding.
