Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism Introduces 'Dubai Unified Licence' for Enhanced Business Processes
Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has ushered in a new era of economic innovation with the introduction of the groundbreaking 'Dubai Unified Licence' (DUL). This initiative marks a significant leap forward in the quest to create a streamlined and efficient business environment in the emirate.
The DUL, a collaborative effort with the Dubai Free Zones Council, serves as a comprehensive commercial identification system. It brings together a diverse array of businesses, both existing and newly established, under a unified digital registry. This registry acts as a centralized hub for data management, providing a reliable and easily accessible source of information for economic establishments in Dubai and its Free Zones.
A key objective of the DUL initiative is to standardize and streamline various business processes in line with global best practices. By doing so, Dubai aims to enhance its competitiveness as a business-friendly destination and attract further investments. The initiative's impact is far-reaching, contributing to the overall efficiency and agility of businesses operating in the emirate.
One of the standout features of the DUL is its ability to simplify the setup and operational procedures for businesses. By reducing documentation requirements and processing times, the initiative accelerates the establishment and management of business operations. This not only benefits local enterprises but also enhances the emirate's attractiveness to international investors and entrepreneurs seeking a conducive and hassle-free business environment.
The collaboration with the Dubai Free Zones Council underscores the concerted effort to integrate various aspects of this initiative seamlessly. This partnership has played a pivotal role in achieving a unified license system in record time, showcasing the effectiveness of cross-specialty collaboration in facilitating business in Dubai.
Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Secretary-General of the Dubai Free Zones Council, highlighted the alignment of the initiative with the visionary goals set by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This includes building a future-proof, agile, and sustainable economy capable of adapting to shifts and transforming challenges into opportunities. The successful completion of the DUL initiative exemplifies teamwork and constructive cooperation among the Dubai Free Zones Council, Free Zones Authorities in Dubai, and the DET team.
The DUL not only facilitates easy access to company information for government entities, service providers, and the public but also introduces a unified and streamlined process for the issuance of permits and No Objection Certificates (NOCs). This simplification contributes to a more efficient business verification process and benefits both existing and prospective business owners in Dubai.
As part of its innovative approach, the DUL introduces the use of a unique QR Code for businesses. This code can be displayed on premises, websites, and social media accounts, offering a modern and efficient way for government entities, service providers, suppliers, and customers to retrieve information about the company. This approach aligns with Dubai's commitment to digitalization and enhances the overall customer experience for businesses.
The DUL is set to play a crucial role in facilitating banks in opening accounts for Dubai-based companies, further streamlining financial transactions. It reinforces the compliance framework outlined in the national AML/CFT strategy, ensuring the integrity of the UAE economy and the global financial system.
Ahmad Khalifa Al Qaizi Al Falasi, CEO of Dubai Business Licence Corporation (DBLC), emphasized the significance of the initiative in digitalizing government services. The DUL not only provides a unified identification for economic establishments but also adheres to privacy policies, ensuring secure and transparent data interchange.
In the current phase, existing businesses and commercial establishments in Dubai, including those in free zones, will receive their unique 'Dubai Unified Licence' Number and associated QR codes upon completion of the data update process. DET's Dubai Business Licence Corporation will oversee the operation, management, development, and supervision of the DUL system.
The DUL initiative stands as a testament to Dubai's commitment to innovation, efficiency, and creating an environment that fosters economic growth. By leveraging advanced digital technology infrastructure and embracing smart city capabilities, Dubai aims to strengthen its position among the world's top global cities and continue its journey of becoming a beacon of innovation and excellence.
