Dubai Sports Council, spearheaded by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has unveiled plans for the 'Dubai Jet Suit Race.' This groundbreaking event, set to debut on February 28th during the Dubai Boat Show, will showcase a unique aerial contest, marking a historic first in global sports.

In an unprecedented display of innovation, participants will navigate a designated course solely powered by jet-engine-equipped suits, eliminating the need for traditional aircraft. The event, a collaboration with Gravity Industries, a leading company in jet suits and jet suit racing, promises a thrilling spectacle for spectators.

The competition will feature eight contenders from diverse backgrounds, including UAE's own Ahmed Al Shehhi, who is currently undergoing intensive training in Britain to qualify for this historic race.

Beyond its entertainment value, the Dubai Jet Suit Race underscores Dubai's stature as a premier host for significant international events.

His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, emphasized that the event, made possible by the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, underscores Dubai's reputation as an incubator for innovative global gatherings.

Sheikh Mansoor further stated, “This race heralds a new era of thrilling aerial sports worldwide, reflecting Dubai’s spirit of enterprise and its ability to surmount challenges. It showcases Dubai's penchant for pioneering ideas that blend innovation, adventure, and ambition, pushing the boundaries of human imagination.”

The launch ceremony for the jet suit racing competition took place at Burj Park, adjacent to the iconic Burj Khalifa.

The adrenaline-fueled race will unfold in the waters between Dubai Harbour and Skydive Dubai, chosen for its expansive and safe conditions. Competitors will don specially designed suits prioritizing health and safety, equipped with features to prevent drowning and enhance buoyancy.
