In a groundbreaking move, dnata, a leading global air and travel services provider, has introduced autonomous drones to its cargo operations in Dubai, UAE, ushering in a new era of efficiency and innovation.

dnata's integration of autonomous drones has revolutionized its cargo operations at both Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) airports, yielding impressive results. Notable benefits include a 20% reduction in processing times for rack inventories and a staggering 99% accuracy rate in shipment tracking.

Pioneering this strategic initiative, dnata initially introduced drones to its cargo operations in the UAE in 2021, marking a significant milestone in the industry. The drones seamlessly integrate into daily workflows and warehouse inventory processes, monitoring approximately 1,800 shipments daily across 2,400 rack locations with remarkable accuracy.

Powered by innovative software developed by dnata's partner, Gather AI, these drones can map environments, collect inventory data, count cases, measure temperatures, and read barcodes using onboard cameras without requiring additional infrastructure. Paired with tablet devices, they provide live inventory data accessible through user-friendly applications and web dashboards.

Automating routine tasks has allowed dnata to reallocate human resources to more complex responsibilities, thereby enhancing overall workforce productivity. Additionally, the use of drones has led to a reduction in carbon footprint and improved safety by minimizing the need for mobile elevating work platforms in warehouses.

Operating within a temperature range of 0°C to +50°C, these drones are also deployed in dnata's state-of-the-art cool chain facilities, further enhancing operational capabilities. dnata plans to expand their use to additional stations across its global cargo network in the coming years.

Guillaume Crozier, dnata's Senior Vice President for UAE Cargo and Global Cargo Strategy, expressed enthusiasm for the transformative impact of drone technology on efficiency levels and customer service. He emphasized dnata's commitment to delivering top-notch services through cutting-edge technologies.

Sankalp Arora, CEO & Co-founder of Gather AI, lauded the partnership with dnata, highlighting the real-time transparency and operational efficiency enabled by autonomous inventory drones.

dnata's investment in digitalization and cutting-edge technologies extends beyond drones, with milestones such as the rollout of its digital cargo management system, OneCargo. This cloud-based platform automates key business functions, enhances visibility, and improves operational efficiency across dnata's global cargo network.

Through these initiatives, dnata continues to lead the way in embracing technology to drive innovation and efficiency in the air cargo industry, setting new standards for excellence and customer service.
